Awards 2022
In this third edition of ugbb, the jury made up of Bettina Blümner, Jesús Cañadas and Leonie Pokkuta highlighted "the high quality of all the projects presented" and awarded "La despedida", by Aline Juárez Contreras.
According to the jury, it is “a current story, of young people stuck within the obligations and social conventions that surround many inhabitants of large cities. We found the contemporary character of a simple fiction that contains much more than it presents, a story of movement, emancipation and transformation, whose protagonists complement each other in a balance that is difficult to achieve in the short distances of this format, especially attractive to us. We highlight the fact that, despite being able to be understood as a story of female empowerment, La farewell can work perfectly with characters of other genders, binary or fluid, thus giving a universal character to what is narrated. The optimistic character of the work has powerfully caught our attention, which we consider necessary and relevant in the current conjunctural moment. In "La despedida" we see that something begins to move, that a dynamic is created that transmits courage when facing the increasingly hostile environment that surrounds us and assails us on a daily basis".
Aline will receive production advice from Catalina Florez (urua Films) and technical support to make her short film through Interflugs, the audiovisual department of the Berlin University of the Arts.
