Awards 2020
In the year of the pandemic, with the support of Interfilm, the Berlin International Short Film Festival and DEKRA, College of Communication, UGBB was a space of exchange, hard work and epiphanies where each of the eight selected participants found their story and shaped a particular look and voice.
At the end of the programme, the jury composed of Heinz Hermanns (Interfilms), Julieta Zarankin (INVASION), Romy Brühwiler (Instituto Cervantes) and Rolf Teigler (Dekra Hochschule) selected the script "Permutation" by the venezuelan Mario Orias as the winning script of the edition.
"The story convinces like no other with its strong characters. The theme is exciting and the author manages to increase the tension as the plot progresses. There is a definite conflict that requires the heroine to develop further. A strong motif with a strong woman in a strong story, which at the same time gives us a piece of Peruvian history with its social norms" noted the jury.
Mario participated in Interfilm's Script Pitch, a special programme for scripts within the Festival, where pitching and production tools were provided, as well as connecting the participant with the international audiovisual environment of the city.
“Permutation” also received support for its production in Berlin through the collaboration with DEKRA.
The short film is scheduled to be shot in August 2022.
