Hans-Christian Boese (Karlsruhe, 1965) studied Latin American Studies at the Free University of Berlin. He began his career in film distribution at the companies Sputnik and Ventura, where he worked in the areas of development and project consulting. Since 1998, he has managed the film distribution company Piffl Medien, with which he has released films by Christian Petzold, Andres Veiel, Corinna Belz, Regina Schilling, Chris Kraus, Laura Poitras, Iciar Bollaín, Fernando León de Aranoa, Thomas Riedelsheimer, Semih Kaplanoglu, Angela Schanelec, Karim Ainouz, Pablo Larraín, Alicia Rohrwacher and Carla Simón, among others. In 2022, he was honoured for the sixth the BKM Film Distribution Award for the sixth time.
